Universities plan to manage research data

Monday, July 8, 2013

In alignment with the White House directive mandating that federal agencies make federally-funded research freely available, the Greater Western Library Alliance and the Great Plains Network--whose membership includes more than 51 major research universities, including KU--are planning a "model for federated research data management."   This is in coordination with the SHared Access Research Ecosystem (SHARE) initiative proposed by the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).

The process of creating the model has been supported by a planning grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS).  The grant was awarded to representatives from the KU Libraries, Information Technology, and Research and Graduate Studies at KU.
