KU librarian asks Elsevier for public clarification regarding its new Open Access policies

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

KU librarian Ada Emmett, head of the KU Libraries' Scholarly Communications program and currently a visiting professor at Purdue, posted a series of questions to Elsevier asking them to provide specific information on the success and/or impact of its "open access initiatives". Emmett's comments were posted November 21st, on Mike Taylor's blog, Sauropod Vertebra Picture of the Week #AcademicSpring, in response to Mike's post, Elsevier's new "open access" terms: so near, yet so far.

After her post, the Elsevier representative offered to speak in person with Ms. Emmett, but Ms. Emmett requested (as did the original blogger) that Elsevier's response be a public one.

Read Ada's comment.
