Affordable College Textbook Act
Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Al Franken (D-MN) and Representatives Rubén Hinohosa (D-TX) and George Miller (D-CA) have introduced legislation in Congress designed to expand the creation of open textbooks available online for free to everyone, according to Nichole Allen, Open Educational Resources Director for The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC).
Open educational resources created through the program will be licensed with a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license that allows for maximum possible use of the material.
